September 12, 2018. PARCC Conversations in Conflict Studies Series. Guest Speaker: Andy Mager, Project Coordinator for Rise Up, a project of the Syracuse Center for Peace and Social Justice. Here in Central New York and across the country there has been a massive upsurge in activism since the 2016 Presidential election and resulting shifts in policy. Locally, people have organized to protect immigrants and refugees, maintain healthcare, safeguard gains made by women, people of color and other targeted groups, defend democracy and more. This Conversation will look at lessons learned here in Central New York and recommend paths forward for community organizers and activists seeking to work effectively.
