Resurgent authoritarianism and extreme nationalism have threatened free expression globally. On April 12, the Maxwell School hosted a three-part, interdisciplinary symposium that explored stories and strategies to address and challenge authoritarianism. The symposium featured participants from across the University as well as guests from Cornell and the U.S. State Department's Office of the Historian. The third part of the symposium focused on immigration and national security domestically and internationally. It featured Professors Janice Dowell (Philosophy), Shana Kushner Gadarian and Audie Klotz (Maxwell, Political Science) and Sefa Secen (PhD Candidate, Maxwell, Political Science). It was moderated by Professor Osamah Khalil (Maxwell, History).
