Fulbright Visiting Scholar Natalia Gulius discusses the duality of a modern university cultural base, since the professorial culture traditionally served as its basis is completed by corporate culture and transformed by it. Tensions and contradictions are brought into a university’s life by different functional trends of professorial and corporate cultures. It brings to a university the principles of commercialization, pragmatics and tendencies of education transformation into educational service, which is a conflict area for all members of the university community. Despite this, a new classical university criterion had appeared: a university corporate culture of collaboration, an intricate place where people learn to cooperate. About the speaker: Natalia Gulius, Ph.D. is a Fulbright visiting scholar from the National Research Tomsk State University in Russia, where she is an associate professor in the Institute of Economics and Management. She studies university corporate culture configuration and transformation. Among her goals while a visiting scholar is to transform her University’s Corporate Culture Governance course into an online Moodle format for international master’s program. She also has an interest in public policy analysis in HR management.
