Wasiq Abbas, Humphrey Fellow Truck art is a form of folk art expression that is found across the world. South Asia’s traditions are unique and have taken truck art to the next level of individual expression. Humphrey Fellow Wasiq Abbas discusses truck art in Pakistan and how it has evolved with the passage of time. It not only reflects the culture of the region but also the thoughts of the truck’s driver and owner. Wasiq’s presentation includes many photos he’s taken of these trucks and provides some regional context. Wasiq Abbas is a Humphrey Fellow from Pakistan who was most recently leading the database, web development and project management teams in the Information Technology department at the Aga Khan University. He wants to enhance his understanding of technology management, strategy development and change management in large organizations. He also wishes to enhance his skills for leadership and learn about policy-making. Documenting Pakistani truck art is a hobby of his and in the process, Wasiq has photographed many trucks and met the drivers of this South Asian folk art form.
